I have been practising acupuncture for 14 years and I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council, which is the main governing body for Traditional Acupuncturists in this country.
I worked for nearly 20 years as a social worker in Nottingham, but became increasingly interested in acupuncture having had a very positive experience of it myself when I had post-natal depression with my first child.
This background has been really helpful in having a good understanding of psychological and emotional problems.
I initially studied "5 Element Acupuncture" for 3 years at the College of Traditional Acupuncture, Leamington Spa. Having set up my own acupuncture practice in Sherwood, I went on to do a 2 year post-graduate course in Traditional Chinese Medicine at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, Reading.
Short post-graduate courses are regularly attended as part of my continual professional development.
I have a particular interest in fertility and pregnancy problems and have done specialist training in this area. I am a founder member of the 'Zita West National.Network for Reproductive Health' as an affiliated acupuncturist. This involves regular training and ongoing support from the Zita West Clinic in London, which is the largest integrated (medical and complimentary) practice in the U.K.supporting all aspects of male and female reproductive health.
I have also completed a course in auricular (ear) acupuncture,
