"I decided I wanted to give up smoking just before I turn 60 to maximise my chances of physical health and comfort for as long as possible.
Ruth’s treatment was fantastic with the emotional support and detox tea at the end of the daily treatment. After a bumpy start where I had
one cigarette at the end of the first couple of days -which were disgusting I have to say! I then felt able to let go of it completely and I was
truly on my way.

I have to stress most strongly that I had absolutely made up my mind that I wanted to give it up and the treatment made the constant
remaking of that decision so much easier during those first few crucial days, after which it got easier as time passed, and the physical and
emotional issues just melted away.

The idea to have a cigarette occurred a number of times over that first weekend, but at no time was it a major struggle, and I found it easy
to re-make that decision not to smoke just again and again. By the following week and subsequent treatments the physical cravings had gone
completely, and the mental issues of constantly remaking that decision not to smoke were very easy. I felt no emotional consequences of not
smoking which was pretty amazing as when I had attempted to give up on previous occasions I was plagued with tears and tempers which
were a real problem.

I strongly recommend Ruth’s excellent treatment. Having made the commitment to myself to give up, I feel fantastic about my success and
able to deal with the occasional fleeting temptations that arise, and I feel confident that I will continue to do so while ever I have that mental

"I've been seeing Ruth for acupuncture since I was 16. I originally had a complicated bladder pain that the local G.P. didn't know much about.

I was 51 in October 2004 when diagnosed with advanced metastatic prostate cancer, an incurable form of the illness, meaning that the cancer had spread from the prostate via the blood stream and lymph nodes to settle in various other sites in my skeleton, mainly in the bones. Treatment subsequently has been hormone therapy, 2 sets of chemotherapy and radiotherapy and a range of serious medication. The prognosis is poor and I was given 18 months to two years to live at the outset and the main symptoms can be significant pain in various parts of the body-for me, mainly in the shoulders and lower back. I take a number of opiate based pain killers.

I have been seeing Ruth on a weekly basis since March 2008 since various medical options became more limited. Although I am obviously pleased that I have thwarted the initial time-scales given and whilst I can have periods of difficulty, I strongly believe that her acupuncture treatment has substantially contributed to my current feeling of well being and relatively good health-in that I am active and up and around. In my medical context, this is a very significant recommendation! Keep up the good work.

I started having acupuncture two years ago when I was laid low by a succession of viruses and a bout of winter depression. Since having regular acupuncture I have been much more resistant and last year had a virus and SAD-free winter. Likewise this year I have remained healthy despite people all around me having bugs of various kinds. Acupuncture seems to have boosted my immune system and general health which in turn has a knock on positive effect on health.

I have just completed a session of treatment with Ruth For male in-fertility.I was diagnosed throgh the QMC nottingham with a sperm count with only 3 million(normal average about 25 million)this being even too low to measure mortility and morphology.I researched the benefits of acupuncture and particularly up to going through with IVF treatments.We decided to be treated through CARE in Nottingham.After my first consultation Ruth recommended various lifestyle changes including diet,stress management etc.I thought i lived a really healthy lifestyle,including regular visits to the gym,watching what i was eating etc.A treatment plan was put in place,following a lot of Zita West books,relaxtion techniques etc.After 6 weeks I went for my first consultation with CARE,I conducted a sperm count where tests came back at a count of an amazing 36 million!!!
I believe without Ruth and the support given this would not have been possible,I will miss our weekly chats..and as Care have stated Me and my Wife now have a 60% chance of conception through our first treatment...in other words our chances have doubled...

I would recommend Ruth and her treatments and will be definitely be back in the future for any more problems...

I was never someone who ever thought they would have a problem with fertility. I guess this is the way it is for everyone. When I found out both my sperm count and motility were very low it was quite a sad experience. I wasn’t a man that felt his pride had been knocked! But one that recognised the problem, sad as it was, and looked at the experience as one that I would try and improve rather than ponder on.

I have just finished a session of treatment with Ruth that started immediately after my first sperm test where the results were a count of 6 million (‘average’ range is >25 million) and a forward motility of around 7% (‘average’ range is 25%). I was baffled to why I had this problem because I had never had any problems or operations in the area but I went on to learn so much from Ruth. It might sound strange but acupuncture is much more than needles being pushed into the skin at different special points!

Sperm is affected in many ways. Diet, as I went on to learn, plays a big part to the overall quality of the sperm as does stress – and Ruth describes, coaches and guides you in these areas. Although not advertised, she has excellent interpersonal skills coming from a Social Work background which helps to relax and rationalise the mind along with the needles to relax and help the body in times of stress (i.e. IVF!).

I saw Ruth on a weekly basis and enjoyed my visits very much. Together we changed my diet radically from snacking on sweets with rare meals to ‘real’ healthy meals using organic vegetables. It was quite a culture shock to start with! But I kept in mind why I was doing this, it’s important to remember the reasons if not only for your own health. I have to say now I enjoy the healthy meals I try to have each day and do feel better for it.

My wife is now pregnant on our 2nd cycle of IVF at Nurture and my final sperm results for the day of egg transfer were a count of 46 million! I still have an unexplained problem with motility but 46 million poor swimmers, I think, give a better chance of natural pregnancy that 6 million. I have never had a problem with sperm morphology, this has always been normal and the greater choice (i.e. greater count) of sperm you can give the IVF clinic the easier the process regarding sperm selection should be.

I would recommend Ruth and her treatments and intend to continue seeing her for monthly treatments (I also suffer from anxiety which acupuncture helps).
